How Often Should You Use a Face Cleansing Device?

Twice a day is the sweet spot for most skin — here's why, plus when to dial it back to once a day or take a rest day.

Silicone cleansing devices like the ageLOC LumiSpa iO are gentle enough for daily use — but there's still a right and wrong way to build them into your routine.

The default: twice a day, two minutes

Morning cleanse clears overnight oil and sweat so your serums absorb. Evening cleanse removes SPF, makeup and airborne pollution — arguably the more important one.

When to dial back

  • Active breakouts or barrier damage: once a day, evenings only, for 1–2 weeks
  • After a peel, laser or microneedling: pause for 5–7 days
  • Sunburn: pause until skin is no longer tender

Signs you're overdoing it

Tightness, stinging when you apply serum, small flakes, or new redness across the cheeks. Skip the device for 3 days and cleanse with your hands.
